What is Ipod Friendly? ==>  What do you mean by iPod-Friendly? Well ...recently Kundkund Kahan Parmarthik trust, Mumbai made all of Gurudev's 9000+ pravachans available in MP3 format on 16 DVDs. Thanks to them that every one can now listen to Gurudev anywhere in the world. ==>  Yes I know.. but what do you mean by "iPod-Friendly"? Ok ... We know a lot of Jains around the world have iPods. And ... ==>  Go on.. The AtmaDharma.com team took these pravachans and also all of Lalchandbhai's pravachans. Then added relevant labelling information to each pravachan file -e.g. The shastra name, the album name, the shastra karta, etc and pictures ... ==>  Ok ... so what has this got to do with "iPod-friendly?" Because of this labelling ... for example you can select a series of pravachans using picture and album name OR Shastra Karta OR Pravachan Kar or even a combination ... this is iPod-friendliness! All the MP3 audio on AtmaDharma will soon be labelled in this way (much already is). ==>  Thats useful ... Do you have some kind of a guide or Demo? Yes - see GurudevPravachans_iPod.pdf for a demo of how to use this iPod-friendly facility. ==>  You know - it would take too long to download all the pravachans ... Can someone load them off-line onto my ipod? Yes - see iPod contacts in India, UK etc. and ask them to load your iPod with the pravachans. ==>  I'm not in any of those areas - but I know a friend who has had their iPod loaded - can I copy from their iPod? Yes - see Guide for iPod to iPod copying. ==>  This is a good idea - can I get involved? ... Can I get a complete copy of the audio so I can load them onto iPods? Preparation ... Please note: These notes refer to both AtmaDharma.com and AtmaDharma.org as AtmaDharma. These instructions are for copying the material already loaded on an iPod as downloaded from AtmaDharma ONLY to another iPod. The Apple iPod Classic 160Gb model has just a large enough capacity to hold:- all of Pujya Gurudev Shree Kanji Swami's pravachans plus all of Pujya Shree Lalchandbhai's pravachans and all the Bhaktis available on AtmaDharma. Currently (as of 6 Nov 2010) no other Apple iPod model has a large enough capacity to hold ALL the material. The copying process will take about 4 hours on a fast computer (assuming you have High-speed USB2 interfaces) and longer on a slow one so it is best to start it off overnight. Screen-shots of the process are shown several steps at at time We recommend you read all the instructions and view the screen shots before commencing These notes have been made using Windows Vista operating system - but you should be able to follow this process (with small differences due to operating system) on any computer which supports iTunes software. You will need: iTunes software as downloaded from www.Apple.com. iPod 1: containing all the pravachans/bhaktis/photos (as downloaded from AtmaDharma) that you wish to copy. iPod 2: A completely empty iPod. A computer with at least 2 USB connection ports and 2 iPod connection leads. Apple have put in copyright protection software for material that stops copyrighted material being copied. We fully support this. The material on Atmadharma is made available with full permission and support of the owners. Therefore it does not conflict with Apple's copyright protection software.

iTunes software Installation Go to www.Apple.com and download the latest iTunes software. Install iTunes on your computer following the instructions as specified in the software. Reboot your computer if necessary.

Audio copying process Preparation of iPod 1 - the one containing all the audio files to copy. Connect iPod 1 to your computer Using Windows Explorer browse to the "Music" folder of iPod 1. Click on the "Music" folder. Make a make a note of iPod 1's Name. Click to enlarge type "*.mp3" in the search box at the top right corner. Click to enlarge This may be different depending on your operating system. Basically - you need to search for all the mp3 files on iPod 1 - currently there should be 10258 in total Click to enlarge See Status to find number of items found Click to enlarge Keep this window open - it will be used later when copying. Preparation of iPod 2 - the empty iPod. Connect iPod 2 to your computer Your computer will install the drivers for your iPod. Wait patiently. Wait for iTunes to recognise this iPod. If the iPod was formatted on a Mac - iTunes will ask to reformat it - only click "Yes" if you do not mind losing any material on it. Also restore the software on the iPod if necessary. If a Licence window is displayed - Accept the licence without registering at this time (you can always register later). In iTunes, eventually a "Set Up your iPod" window will be displayed. Using iTunes, give this iPod 2 a different name to iPod 1. Disable the "Automatically synch songs and Videos to my iPod" option by clicking on the check-box. Disable the "Automatically synch photos to my iPod" option by clicking on the check-box. Click the "Done" button. Click to enlarge Wait for iPod 2s Name to appear in the left pane of the iTunes software Window. Click on iPod 2s name in the iTunes left pane. Click to enlarge Click on the "Music" folder of iPod 2 in the iTunes left pane - the right window should be updated - and look like: Click to enlarge Copying of audio from iPod 1 to iPod 2 From iPOD 1's Windows Explorer window Select All the MP3 files (you previously searched for) and then Drag them onto iPod2's iTunes right hand pane and drop them there. Click to enlarge After about 10-20 minutes - You should see iTunes working very hard copying the files - i.e. it will give a feedback message "Adding Files". After a few minutes you will see a status being updated at the top of the iTunes window telling you how many it has done. Click to enlarge The copying process will take upto 4 hours on a fast computer and longer on a slow one. Wait for the process to complete. When complete all 10258 files will be on iPod 2. Right-click on iPod 1 and click "Eject" Wait for "OK to Disconnect" message to appear on iPod 1 before disconnecting it from the computer. Right-click on iPod 2 and click "Eject" Wait for "OK to Disconnect" message to appear on iPod 2 before disconnecting it from the computer. Now you should have 2 iPods with exactly the same audio.

Photos copying process Preparation of iPod 1 - the one containing all the photos files to copy. Connect iPod 1 to your computer Using Windows Explorer browse to the "Photos" folder of iPod 1. Connect iPod 2 to your computer Wait for iPod 2's Name to appear in the left pane of the iTunes software Window. Click on iPod 2's name in the iTunes left pane. Click to enlarge Click the "Include full-resolution photos" radio button Click the "Apply" button Click to enlarge The copying process will take upto 30 minutes on a fast computer and longer on a slow one Wait for the process to complete. Right-click on iPod 1 and click "Eject" Wait for "OK to Disconnect" message to appear on iPod 1 before disconnecting it from the computer. Right-click on iPod 2 and click "Eject" Wait for "OK to Disconnect" message to appear on iPod 2 before disconnecting it from the computer. Now you should have 2 iPods with exactly the same photos.
